Meet Our Team

Tyler Hanson, JD

With over nine years of extensive experience in public policy and government affairs, Tyler Hanson is a seasoned expert who has adeptly advanced the policy interests of a diverse range of entities, from non-profits to Fortune 500 companies. Ms. Hanson began her career in policy as a legislative aide in the U.S. House of Representatives, where her expertise in healthcare policy and her fervor for advocacy flourished. Ms. Hanson holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Hampton University and a Juris Doctor from Loyola University Chicago School of Law, a testament to her commitment to academic excellence in her field. Remaining steadfast in her dedication to the betterment of the U.S. healthcare system, Ms. Hanson consistently underscores the transformative impact of advocacy and policy changes in her daily professional endeavors. Ms. Hanson now utilizes her experience in the policy and advocacy fields to help black and brown women start and advance their careers within the legislative process.

Phylicia L. Woods, JD, MSW

Phylicia Woods brings over 15 years of experience in policy, governmental affairs, and issue advocacy. Phylicia hails from Memphis, TN and currently lives in Virginia. She earned a Juris Doctor at the University of South Carolina School of Law, and a Master of Social Work and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Saint Louis University. 

Phylicia is seasoned in developing and executing federal legislative and regulatory policies to increase access to health care. Phylicia started her professional career as an AmeriCorps VISTA where she worked with state and local officials to reduce the number of black youth entering the juvenile justice system. 

  • Committed to service, Phylicia went on to work in several governmental roles, in particular as counsel in the U.S. Senate, as a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer as well as a health care legislative assistant in the U.S. House of Representatives. Since leaving government, Phylicia has worked in patient advocacy for nonprofits and corporations where she continues to develop strategies to ensure that federal policies provide equitable access to affordable health care.

    Aligned with her dedication to advocacy, Phylicia serves as chair of her local county’s Commission for Women, which seeks to promote gender equality, eliminate violence against women, and honor women and girls in Fairfax, VA. She also leads the county’s Council to End Domestic Violence.
